Currently August!

I know I say this every month. But, I literally cannot believe it is August! Didn't we just end the school year?? Where did the time go? As most of you know, our house is ALMOST finished, and I just cannot wait to get moved in!

I am linking up with Farley for her monthly linky party!

What have you been up to?

It's CURRENTLY July!

I am usually that teacher who wants summer to last forever. Until the school supplies come out. And, then I get really excited to get to work in my classroom. BUT, not this summer. It's not that I want to go back to school. Let's be honest, this is only my 4th week of summer and I have had so many things for school that it hardly feels like summer.

Ok. Maybe I am being slightly dramatic.

Either way, here is my currently post for July!

So, as you can see, the reason why I want summer to hurry up and race to the finish line is because my HOUSE will be ready at the beginning of August and I just cannot wait patiently enough to move in and decorate!

Did I mention that we are starting our third month of living with my parents since we sold our house so quickly? Oh, I did? Must have simply slipped my mind :)

Happy July, everyone!

Currently April!

Well, hello there! Remember me? I am so glad to find some time to blog again--it seriously has been too long. It's not that I haven't had anything to say...no, no, no, that is definitely not it. I have had way too much going on at school, commitments with things outside of the school day, and my own personal life that I literally haven't had a chance to breathe if it wasn't written in my agenda ahead of time. I might be a little dramatic. Or maybe not. But that is just the way things have been lately...Soooo:

I am so excited for the once-a-month-linkup that gets me back on track! Farley's Currently!

So, without further ado, here we go!

Some things are pretty self-explanatory, but let me go into some more detail here:

I cannot even stand that I am up this early. I really woke up at 5:34 (well, that is when I was frustrated enough that I was awake and looked at my phone). Friends, I cannot get out of bed FOR ANY REASON short of a fire during the week. I literally cannot make myself get up when the alarm goes off. But on the weekends, I am a bright-eyed birdie in the middle of the night. Yes, the middle of the night is anytime before 7 AM, just so we are all on the same page. I remembered going to bed thinking I wanted to blog today, so maybe this is a blessing in disguise. Hubby is still asleep and my sweet puppy graciously took my spot in bed when I got up. The things I do for others. I am a giver, I tell you.

I am loving that it is the weekend! Well, let's be clear, what teacher is ever sad to go home on a Friday? Not this one! April 1st and 2nd we had state testing (STAAR) for 7th and 8th graders. My kids took Math on April 1st. They all told me that it was just a joke and that when they opened their tests they swore it would say "April Fool's! You don't have to take the STAAR today!" I kept telling them in the weeks prior that, "Yes, you will take the test, the state doesn't make jokes, ever, and you need to be prepared." You should have seen some of them after the test. STILL shocked that they had to take it. I can honestly say I am glad to be done with it as the stress leading up to testing day was insurmountable. Now, I am just stressing about who passed and who didn't!

Another reason that I haven't posted in a while is because the hubster and I have spent the month of March looking for and signing a contract to BUILD A NEW HOUSE!!! Well, with that, of course comes the stress of selling the current one! More about that this week :)

After this week, I need a back massage. Enough said.

Although our work hours are 8:10 - 4:10, I usually arrive by 7:30 to get things ready before the kids come at 8:55. Because of the two "ice" days, we have to make one up on Memorial Day, and the other on June 6, so the teacher workday from June 6 was moved to June 7 :)

Until next time--Have a wonderful weekend!

Currently March!

I know I am a little late to the party, but I wanted to follow the rule of blogging and not post more than one time in a day. SO, here we are, on the third day of the month, and I will probably be the 5000th person to link-up with Farley for her monthly currently!

Most of it is pretty self-explanatory, but the last one is different! Farley had an idea to post an answer to a question and have our followers try and figure out the question! So, guess away!

Happy New Year!

I certainly cannot believe that it has been two months since my last post! Everytime I thought about blogging, I didn't quite know where to start since I either had nothing to say or I had too much to say and wasn't sure how to organize it. I decided I would start back with the Currently for January as I link up with Farley from Oh Boy 4th Grade!

A lot of this is pretty self-explanatory, but I am so excited that we still have a few more days off from school! We have a full two weeks off, and the kids get an additional two days next week (Monday and Tuesday) while the teachers have professional development days. I always like to have a day or two to get ready for the kids since I am in such a hurry to get out before the break!

We literally packed the car and were on the road to St. Louis to visit my in-laws by 7 PM on the Friday we got out of school. We drove straight through (with the dog) and arrived before lunch on Saturday. Let me explain something to all of you. There is this thing called compromise when you get married. See, in my family, we flew everywhere that it was more than a 4 hour drive. Heck, my mom and I flew to Dallas from Houston several times when my sister lived there just to avoid a 5 hour car ride. But, see, my husband came from a family or drivers. They drive everywhere. The longer, the better.

So, when I wanted to go visit my friend Lauren and her husband, Mike, over spring break this past March, we drove! I had made that drive before with Lauren in college, but it was college, and that was an adventure and I was excited about it. We also drove during daylight back then.

Oh, did I forget to mention, that my husband's family only seems to travel overnight? Like traveling vampires?? I've grown somewhat accustomed to it, as it is much less expensive, especially when we take the dog and don't have to pay for him to stay somewhere.

Where was I? Oh yes. So, we drove to St. Louis. The drive there was fine, but long! As soon as we got to his parents' house, we sat down and booked a hotel room for the trip back so we could stop in Little Rock overnight. Yes. We are just a bunch of world travelers! We should own an RV.

Back to my friend, Lauren. She lives in El Paso, which is 669 miles away from my house. Roughly. And, she is coming tonight!!! I am so excited since the last time I saw her, we had our husbands, and now, it will be girl time!

I will have to setup several blog posts in the coming weeks about what I have been up to...but, until then, have a wonderful rest of your break!

Currently October

It has been stressing me out all week that I haven't put up my currently post for October! Not even sure if the linky is still available...but I am putting mine up all the same! I MISS blogging during the week...but I just don't have enough time right now. So, without further ado...I am "linking" up with Farley from Oh Boy 4th Grade for her monthly link-up!

I am listening to The Voice...LOVE THIS SHOW! In fact, one of my friends from elementary school made it on to TEAM BLAKE last week and I am so excited to see how she does. Her audition was amazing...so I hope she goes far!

I am LOVING this cooler weather. I live in Texas...so cooler weather is anything below 90 degrees...walking the dog this morning was so nice this morning. It was 52 degrees! Talk about a cold front...fantastic! Now, if it would just be fall permanently...

I am thinking I need to take something off my plate. I am getting to school by 7 AM each day (school starts at 9) and leaving between 5 and 6 each night...that is just crazy. I am still bringing stuff home to do. And working almost all weekend. AND, I am not even doing 1/2 of what I was doing last year! I was head of social committee, coached the dance team, and helped with curriculum, had three preps, among many other things. Now, I am just teaching (one prep), and can't seem to get it all done. What happened?? Maybe things will all slow down soon.

This past weekend was my 10 year high school reunion. Time FLIES...After having a big hand in the planning process, I am so glad that it is over, but I am sad that it went by so fast! It was so good to see so many people that I have only seen on FB for the past 10 years. It's funny how you recognize the spouses from pictures and you've never actually met them before. So, after this weekend, I just needed one more day off...

Funny side note/story: In my economics class my senior year, we had a budget project and I was "married". Instead of just doing the project as the directions stated, we went a little out of the box. He "proposed" in the cafeteria with an aluminum foil ring, we went on dates, planned a wedding, apartment hunted, got jobs, went grocery shopping, etc. AND documented the whole journey in photos to turn into a scrapbook and turn in for our grade. It was SO much fun. We for sure got an A...and we referred to each other as husband and wife for the rest of the year even thought we were dating other people. Fast forward 10 years to this past Saturday night. He walks in, I am working the registration table, and he turns to his wife and says "Hey, honey...meet my 1st wife!" I just about died. How cool that he remembered!? Now, just to find that "wedding" album...

Back to this :) I need a vacation. Good thing I have one planned. A great one actually. The hubs (current one, not high school...just to keep all my stories straight!) and I are going on a Thanksgiving cruise. I am ecstatic, except I think my momma is a little bummed that we won't be here for Thanksgiving...she'll get over it :) We are also talking to some friends of ours to see about planning a winter break hill country getaway. We LOVE going out to the hill country a few times a year. I love going in the summer...but bad things happened in August. Remember the sunburn from you know where? Good thing when you go in the winter, there are different activities. Like wine tasting. And shopping :)

Lastly, I HEART using edmodo in my classes. If you aren't using it...run! go to www.edmodo.com and see all it has to offer. This is my 3rd year using it with kids and it is WONDERFUL!

Hope everyone has a great week :)

Currently September

Y'all...it is September...and it is still super hot outside! So much for fall, right? I am linking up with the Fantastic Farley from Oh Boy, 4th Grade for her monthly CURRENTLY!

Listening: When I started typing this, I was watching America's Got Talent...but I got distracted, and now I am watching Love It or List It on HGTV. LOVE this show! It stresses me out every time because there is ALWAYS something that goes wrong...but it mostly has a happy ending...which I love.

Loving: I am SO thrilled with my decision to move to a new school. Besides being closer to home, the people are great, I love my classroom (reveal coming this week!) and my students are awesome. It sure is nice only driving 7 minutes to get there! I just can't wait to get into a routine so that I don't need to be there at 7 AM. Our contract hours are roughly from 8-4, and I just can't bring myself to leave the house at 7:45!

Thinking: I have been teaching for 7 years (this is my 8th) and I am blessed to have a student teacher this year! She starts on Wednesday and I am super pumped. Will post more on this after I meet her!

Wanting: This is a no-brainer and I bet every one of you out there reading this agrees with me! This weekend has been glorious...except for...

Needing: A NEW AC UNIT! We came home Friday after a week of work and just wanted to relax. It felt warm in the house, but our AC is essentially turned up during the day and cools down when we get home. We just attributed the warmth to the hot day it was outside. We went for dinner, and when we got home, it was 84 degrees! Our poor dog! After making a few phone calls, we set off to my parents house to stay for the night. Our dog, Banjo, was delighted! He loves going to grandma and grandpa's house and he's never been allowed to have a sleepover!

The next morning, we headed back to our house to meet the AC repairman. He told us that a few things needed to be replaced and then he would be on his way! Music to my ears because it was SO disgustingly hot outside and inside. I was watching the Aggie game when the power went out throughout the entire house! When he flipped the switch, the power tripped! GREAT. Low and behold, he was wrong, and we needed a new compressor. However, our house and unit is 10 years old and because it uses an older kind of freon, it didn't make sense to replace an expensive part. SO, we had to purchase a BRAND. NEW. UNIT. Who knew they cost so much?!? I did...but I thought we would have moved before having to deal with it! Because it is Labor Day weekend...the SOONEST it could be replaced was Tuesday. Awesome. So, we have been at my parents house all weekend long. Technically, we went out of town for the weekend since they live in the next town over :).

I can't wait to go home tomorrow after work! Luckily my hubby will be home to oversee the repair. I'll be in my air conditioned classroom :)

Currently -- August!

Is anyone else wondering where July went so fast?! Sweet lord, school will be here before I know it! Today, I am linking up with Farley at Oh Boy, 4th Grade for her monthly linkup! Yes, I know I have had multiple posts today, and that it is slightly taboo...but you will just have to deal with it :)

For those of you who don't know...I am on vacation with the hubs in New Braunfels, TX...if you haven't been, you need to! HOWEVER...the heat is beyond oppressive! We are talking 103-105 degree temperatures for the bulk of the day. We got terribly sunburnt at Schlitterbahn on Wednesday and are in so much pain! Anyhow, back to our regularly scheduled blog post:

Listening: I am listening to the nightly news in the background...not totally paying attention, but hubs like to catch up with what is going on around the world. I mostly get my news through him.

Loving: Like I said, we are in centralish Texas where the heat is STRONG, and after spending the day floating the river and shopping in Greune, we are DONE with the heat for today! So, we will be enjoying the AC in the hotel for the evening.

Thinking: about all the wine we are going to taste tomorrow! There are so many delicious wineries in the hill country that it is hard to keep track of. Our two favorites in Driftwood, where we will be tomorrow, are Wimberley Valley Winery and Driftwood Estate Winery. Mmmmm...delicious. Our supply has run out since we were last here in January, so we definitely need to stock up. There are also some great shops in Wimberley where we are going to be for lunch that I can't wait to revisit.

Needing: to really get motivated to get my act together before school starts! I have a blank canvas of a room to decorate, so I need to go up there this week and do that. It's one of those "once I am in there, I will know what I want to do" things. I think I just want it to be done...and not have to do it myself!

B2S Must Haves: I need to get some Five-Star Notebooks as I make the transition from composition notebooks to Five-Star for my interactive notebooks this year. They are on sale at Target this week...so I need to stock up! Also, I always get a new pair of shoes for the first day/week of school and a back to school pedicure. Last year, hubby went with me since he is a teacher, too, and insisted on getting a pedicure. Just the other day, he said to me, "are we still getting B2S pedicures this year?!"

Starting Monday, I have 2 weeks before I have to be back to inservice. Hope I can get everything done by then!

I Can't Believe it is July! (almost)

Seriously, where did the time go!? It seems like just last week I was getting out of school and packing up my room. This happens every year and summer just needs to SLOW. DOWN. I mean, I don't even have any notion of a tan, yet!

That being said, I have had A LOT of time this summer to find new bloggers to stalk follow, especially through bloglovin, that I stumbled upon the link for Farley's Currently Link Up. Seriously, like 75% of the blog posts I have to read today are linked up with her, and I don't like being left out of a good party, so here I am!

Listening:
My husband and I are both teachers. Therefore, we are both off for the summer at the same time. He likes to relax by playing video games with friends...I can't stand it, solely because of the noises that emanate from his computer! It's ridiculous, and I seriously don't wish it on anyone. For reals.

Loving:
SUMMERTIME! I have not done near as many fun things that I had hoped for already (Let's be real, I have spent a TON of time on my classroom for next year--one of my favorite things to do in the summer!), but I did get to have a fun girls night at the New Kids on the Block CONCERT! Also in attendance were Boys 2 Men and 98 Degrees...It was awesome!

Also - can I just say how much I am LOVING the giveaways going on at The School Supply Addict's blog?? Simply ah-mazing, and today is the last day...so get on over there to enter!

Thinking:
There is something so wonderful about teaching in that you get a new group of kids each year, a clean slate, if you will. I have the opportunity of teaching a new grade level on a new campus, so it is almost like the first year of teaching all over again - you know, without the learning curve! There are so many new things I want to implement in my new room that I have overflowing lists all over the house! I can't wait to really get started...after the summer, of course!

Wanting:
Seriously, I never get sick. I mean the last time I was sick had to have been over 3 years ago, before my husband and I even got engaged...until now. I have had this cold that has gotten progressively worse since Wednesday, so we are going on DAY 5! I should buy stock in Kleenex. And vitamin C. I HATE not being able to breathe.

Needing:
My plan this summer was to deep clean one area of the house each day so that it would be uncluttered and neat. I technically am not failing at this task because I haven't started, right? Tomorrow--that sounds like a good time to start!

How do you get over summer colds? Help me out by leaving a comment below--I am desperate!

Have a great Sunday,
